Add Solar and EV charging to Senator Dodd Stadium
We recently moved to Norwichtown in Norwich and as part of the process we evaluated moving here against other areas in SE Conn. One of the plusses for us is the Sea Unicorns who play at Dodd Stadium.
Recently learned that some in City Hall would like to sell the stadium, and I feel it's a bad idea. The proponents of improving the stadium have a better presentation of facts.
I believe that Norwich should add Solar panels and EV charging to the stadium. The Solar panels could go on the roofs of every building, and also ground monted arrays in under untilized areas. There are federal programs to help and local solar companies looking for municipal partners and this project could reduce the lighting costs for the stadium and help Norwich reduce the carbon footprint.
The EV Charging stations could attract customers which could bring other opportunities for sales on site. There also are federal programs to help with the costs, and local companies looking for opportunities to partner with municipalities.
Sellin the stadium is a short term money grab that the city would regret before long, Senator Dodd Stadium is an asset for the residents of Norwich, just look at all the children having a blast of fun at these home games.
