Indoor Competitive Pool and Sport Center

From "Post your proposal here and place it on the agenda of Norwich Community Development Corporation"

Go to the project

As a mother of swimmers we are looking for a competitive pool where our kids can learn, practice and compete all kind of swim sports. Unfortunately we don't have any kind of competitive pool in our town. Students from our High School need to travel 30-45 minutes to practice and learn competitive swimming. Please, our kids and youth needs a Sport Center where they can spend time, learn new skills and develop more abilities year round. And our students needs a place near home to practice and give them the chance to have a place to invite others schools and clubs for competitions.

This opportunity for youth to have a pool area is a positive one! There is room for development and growth in healthy ways of living and learning active skills. In a world where technology and social media is taking over our children, these youth are paving the way to become future olympians, future athletes, and parents supporting this movement are opening doors to healthier lifestyles. Keeping more youth off the cellphone and off the streets and focus on an actual life goal. This pool area can also be extended for therapeutic services for seniors and recreational usage for activities outside of the swimming meets and practices. Count on my vote !

I really love this idea. We have a huge need for these kind of things for our kids and youth. A sport center would help to better develop our present and future generations. It would be a safe place to keep them active, keep them off the streets, streghten their health, help them to socialize more, help them to create a balance between electronics and physical activity, etc. This one is a "no brainer" in my opinion. It should be done. I vote yes for an indoor competitive pool and sport center.

Yes, to a sports center! Locate it at the front of the new industrial complex or near Kelly. Students, kids with special needs and Seniors would benefit. Norwich is falling behind in this area. Catch up! Team up with someone in the sports industry to get it done.

It's a great idea even kids with special needs will also benefit the pool. To learned swimming classes. It's a good therapy for them. And every kids deserve all this so we can teach our kids to have fun and enjoyed also. So we can take out the kids doing bad habits the streets. Having more things postive to do in this community in Norwich CT.

It is important to have a pool where they learn the skills of swimming and also having the sport of swimmer . My children went to the ymca in Norwich and it was the best that they did, learn how to swim. They loved it. It close down and now you have to go so far to go swimming or for swimming lessons. Kids in Norwich should have opportunities like the rest of its neighboring towns. They have free swimming classes for children who cannot afford in the nearby towns or at least have opportunities. You never know, one of those children can be the next Olympian.
