Beryl Fishbone3 years ago Saw this idea in Conde Nast Traveler 3/23 and thought with the development of hotels, inns and party houses Norwich, CT could become more of a destination with a “Peace and Love” promotion.The article I read was about an actor and a entrepreneur who planned a honeymoon adventure that allowed them to give back. Of course theirs was an exotic African adventure but perhaps Norwich, CT could develop and promote an adventure to improve one or more of our villages or areas.Perhaps help to develop some natural areas along the Thames River Tidal Estuary, or the Shetucket River or the Yantic River? Maybe help a small business develop a boat/rafting/float rental?Maybe encourage one or more of the local bars to change their décor to something regional and fun?To place local crafts for sale on the walls or tables? How about their selling farm to table snacks? Promote the whole package as a lifetime of memories.

Contact them and ask the questions was the promotion successful? What criteria of success and failure was used? What worked? What did not work? How were the residents and businesses affected? See - the sunrise spread across the treetops , Smell – the freshness of the loblolly pines, Listen – to the river whispering its secrets.Norwich, CT representatives could work with the State of CT Office of Tourism for/in a similar type of promotion. Certainly not in an identical promotion but in the development of a promotion that is large enough to encompass all of Eastern CT and generic enough make people curious as to what can be found here.The “Other Connecticut” is more than just Norwich, CT.

Beryl Fishbone4 years ago I would like to see an ideas tab for Mohegan Park and the Rose Garden. What would people realistically like to see there? Surrounding, where appropriate, the ball fields I would like to see walking paths with different books available for small child reading. I do not feel having a reading book path on the walking path in Mohegan Park is appropriate as the emphasis of the park is on communing with and observing nature. At the ball parks the emphasis may be on a sibling playing or practicing so distraction may be a good thing. In the neighborhood parks, there could be a similar reading path for walking with small children in a convenient location to home. Parents of small children would appreciate not having to transport the child to Mohegan Park, park a car, lug a diaper/toy bag etc while trying to entertain and tire a child out for a good nights sleep.
